Chocolatey Energy Bites

 

These energy bites make for a delicious & nutrient-packed homemade snack, combining the deliciousness of dates for taste, the creaminess of almond butter, and the heart healthy benefits of hemp seeds.

It’s a satisfying snack that can supply you with a quick energy boost before a workout or to help fuel the mid-day funk especially on those busier days. Bonus: most of these ingredients can likely find themselves in the comfort of your home pantries!

Yields: 10 energy bites

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup oats (quick cooking oats or slightly blended rolled oats)

  • ¼ cup dates, blended

  • ⅓ cup hemp seeds

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp of maple syrup, honey or agave syrup

  • ¼ cup almond butter

  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon fine grain salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together all dry ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl.

  2. Add the wet ingredients and stir until well incorporated.  

  3. Create 1.5 TBSP bite-sized pieces and set on a parchment-lined baking sheet. 

  4. Place in the fridge for 2-4 hours to set.

  5. Enjoy!
