Chocolatey Energy Bites

 

These energy bites make for a delicious & nutrient-packed homemade snack, combining the deliciousness of dates for taste, the creaminess of almond butter, and the heart healthy benefits of hemp seeds.

It’s a satisfying snack that can supply you with a quick energy boost before a workout or to help fuel the mid-day funk especially on those busier days. Bonus: most of these ingredients can likely find themselves in the comfort of your home pantries!

Yields: 10 energy bites

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup oatmeal, uncooked

  • ½ cup walnuts

  • ½ cup dates, pitted

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed or hemp seed

  • (optional) 2 tbsp coconut flakes

  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine oatmeal, dates and walnuts until well combined

  2. Mix in the rest of the ingredients. 

  3. Using your hands, create 1.5 TBSP bite-sized pieces and place in a bowl or on a parchment-lined baking sheet. 

  4. Place in the fridge to set.

  5. Enjoy!
